Every nation is an illusion

Made up of different dreams

But what’s the thread that mends them

When they’re tearing at the seams

What brought these scraps together

To weave a sordid quilt

Were they joined by oppression?

Or wars protecting guilt?

Who benefits from a nation dream?

Is it few or is it all?

A dream not dreamt to serve the whole

From any height may fall
